Monarch Race Team

Full-Time Racers

Practices will be on Saturdays and Sundays, some Fridays and most days when kids are not in school. Coaches will improve each child's skiing techniques, strengthen skills, accomplish drills, improve race techniques (both free skiing and in gates). Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super G gate training will include video analysis. Racers will receive tuning instruction, sportsmanship and physical discipline. All full-time racers will participate in USSA age class races with the goal of qualifying for the Junior Olympics.

Monarch Race Team Fees

$1,000 includes Season Pass.

All full-time athletes must be members of the United States Ski Association (USSA) Rocky Mountain Division (RMD). For USSA and RMD Membership Information call (435) 647-2666 or go to The United States Ski Association or USSA Rocky Mountain Division.

(Fees do not include USSA card, equipment, race entries, lift tickets to other areas, travel, lodging or tuning expenses.)

Monarch Race Team Requirements and Guidelines

• Prior participation in the Walmer Club
• Tryouts for new racers
• Commitment of time
• Suitable equipment
• Good Attitude
• Knowledge about other costs: equipment, race entries, lodging, travel, and tuning expenses.

Monarch Race Team skiers are expected to

• Be at Race Cabin by 8:30a.m. and be ready to catch the first lift open at 9:00a.m.
• Bring a lunch, snack or money.
• Remember Pass.
• Have all equipment necessary and extra clothes for the coldest days.
• Be at all possible practices and let coaches know if cannot attend.
• Keep equipment in good order and be responsible for it.

Monarch Race Team Rules

• Attendance at practice before a race is mandatory.
• Speed camp is necessary for all those who will be participating in Super G races. (J4, J3, J2).
• Follow all Monarch Ski and Snowboard Area's rules and behave in an appropriate manner at all times.
• Parent/racer is responsible for all entries, equipment travel and lodging accommodations.
