Monarch Race Team Coaches

I've been an employee of Monarch since I joined the Farm Team in ski school at the age of 14. Upon reaching the age of 16 I started commuting to Leadville for race team practice for Lake County High School and continued to work in ski school as a ski and snowboard instructor. That year I earned my PSIA level 1 Instructor Certification. I qualified and competed in the Colorado CHSAA State Championships both my sophomore and junior years. My senior year, I left ski school and joined the Monarch Race Team and the Lake County High School Race Team. After qualifying for state competition for a third year and finishing my second knee surgury, I worked on the Race Crew at Ski Cooper as a coach, ski technician, and race official. I graduated from Buena Vista High School in May 2005 and am currently a sophmore at Western State College in Gunnison, CO. I also received my Level 100 Coach's Certification.

I started skiing when I was 3 years old in my backyard in Connecticut! When I was 9 I joined the Mohawk Mountain Race Team and competed for several years. While I didn't race in college, I chose to study at the University of Vermont for obvious reasons. While there I honed my skills at Stowe, Sugarbush, Mad River Glen and Jay Peak. I joined the Monarch Ski and Ride School in 1995 and quickly became a PSIA Certified Ski Instructor. I have Coached and/or Supervised in the Mountaineers, Shredders and Junior Mountain youth ski programs my entire time here at Monarch. Many of the kids I have coached through the years have progressed to the Freeride Team, Walmer Club and Race Team or have joined our staff and become Certified Instructors. Along with racing, I specialize in teaching people skills and tactics to ski the whole mountain in all conditions. I really love skiing bumps too :)
